3.6.2 Design principles

In order to transmit the force optimally through the bonded joint, sharp bends, abrupt cross-sectional variations and large changes in the deformation properties over a smaller area should if possible be avoided. At these places there may be a concentration of stresses (stress peaks), leading to premature failure of the bonded joints at these “hot spotss”.
